Style education 101 : Hippie Fashion style

ImageImageImage

ImageImageWe all know very well the hippie style that has undoubtly made its way into the fashion scene from all those free love, paint wearing, headband sporting, fringe rocking ,cloud nine youngsters from the 60’s hippie movement.

But did you know that

A July 1967 Time Magazine study on hippie philosophy credited the foundation of the hippie movement with historical precedent as far back as the counterculture of the Ancient Greeks, espoused by philosophers like Diogenes of Sinope and the Cynics also as early forms of hippie culture. It also named as notable influences the religious and spiritual teachings of Henry David ThoreauHillel the Elder,JesusBuddhaSt. Francis of AssisiGandhi, and J.R.R. Tolkien.

Because of this religious influence on the fashion then that would explain all of the symbols

Hippies clothing are inspired by folk music, nature ,environment, freedom, love, peace, and religion. Now we can see why there is so much diversity in the dress , and one can pretty much style, mix and match as you’d like.

I’m not a hippie, but I love some of the styles that have come to shape a now very important category of modern day fashion that fashionistas from celebrities to everyday women have come to incorporate into their wardrobe and sport occasionally when they feel in the hippie mood.

xoxo Sole Shoe Boutique

Unique displays for unique soles

One of the  things that I love about being here in the middle  east is that there are an abundance of furniture makers all around you, and the prices are so reasonable that you wouldn’t believe.

which brings me  to the topic of display furniture that I am drooling over, if and when I  open a brick and mortar I will definately be getting some of the funkiest strangest display pieces to compliment the shoes that have come to define sole shoe boutique.

Shoe label Beau Coops by Carrie Cooper

Image

I am feeling the shoe line from designer Carrie Cooper, she worked with and used to design shoes for Alexander McQueen and she definitely has outdone herself with her very own standout style label Beau Coops

Heres a little insight about the label : (taken from the site http://www.beaucoops.com/about/)

Beau; denoting a stylish man, and Coops;

referring to the designer, Carrie Cooper.

This is a brand reflecting the coming

together of ideas and styles.

The Beau Coops agenda is simple: to

offer beautifully designed, classic

footwear and accessories, that represent

a lifestyle of comfort, quality and style.

Made in Italy and inspired by her former

East London home, the unisex label

embodies what the designer refers to as

“boyfriend chic” – reminiscent of that

special piece borrowed from a loved one.

The colors , style, and designs are awesome she definitely knows her way around a shoe. I’ll have to give it to her ,she as skills in shoe design I love the label and will be following her for years to come.

One thing for sure ladies if you decide to get yourself a pair of these funky kicks, you most certainly won’t see many other women rocking them along with you.

Love Sole Shoe,

New Emerging fashion designer from Greece Mary Katrantzou

Image

ImageImageImageImageImageMary Katrantzou is a Greek designer currently working and living in London .

Katrantzou’s graduating show in 2008 mapped out her signature style. It was themed around trompe l’oeil prints of oversized jewellery featured on jersey-bonded dresses. these pieces created the illusion of wearing giant neckpieces that would be too heavy in reality. She also designed real jewellery made out of wood and metal that were exact replicas of the prints. Mary katrantzou’s first ready-to-wear collection debuted at London fashion week in Spring/Summer 2009, with the support of the BFC and the New Gen scheme. Despite a small collection of nine dresses, Katrantzou picked up 15 prestigious stockists including Browns, Joyce and Colette. The designer achieved show status the following season, in Autumn/Winter 2009.

We’ve been following her designs and I must say they are absolutely uber chic, the concepts of the prints are both lively and attention getting. If you love color feminine looks and outstanding prints then you’ll love Mary’s ss 2013 line.

You can find her at London’s fashion week for those  who want to see the models in action modeling  some of her masterpieces , stay tuned in date with the upcoming designer shows and you won’t be disappointed, I know I’m not.
