Style education 101 : Hippie Fashion style
We all know very well the hippie style that has undoubtly made its way into the fashion scene from all those free love, paint wearing,headband sporting, fringe rocking ,cloud nine youngsters from the 60’s hippie movement.
But did you know that
A July 1967 Time Magazine study on hippie philosophy credited the foundation of the hippie movement with historical precedent as far back as the counterculture of the Ancient Greeks, espoused by philosophers like Diogenes of Sinope and the Cynics also as early forms of hippie culture.It also named as notable influences the religious and spiritual teachings of Henry David Thoreau, Hillel the Elder,Jesus, Buddha, St. Francis of Assisi, Gandhi, and J.R.R. Tolkien.
Because of this religious influence on the fashion then that would explain all of the symbols
Hippies clothing are inspired by folk music,nature ,environment,freedom,love,peace,and religion. Now we can see why there is so much diversity in the dress , and one can pretty much style,mix and match as you’d like.
I’m not a hippie, but I love some of the styles that have come to shape a now very important category of modern day fashion that fashionistas from celebrities to everyday women have come to incorporate into their wardrobe and sport occasionally when they feel in the hippie mood.

My shoe love affair
It all began when I was a young teenage girl at the age of about 13 years and my mother gave me about $300 to go and buy myself a few pairs of shoes from this high end boutique in center city located in Philadelphia. Pennsylvania my home town. I know what your thinking , who gives a thirteen year old $300 for shoes but i was really mature for my age and showed a strong interest in fashion at that age, imitating my tailored dressed mother and grandmother .
So the store that made me into a shoe monster is called headstart shoes and the store is still live and kicking business is certainly business because their shoe collections are just that awesome . If you ever visit Philly then be sure to check them out , they sell all European brands of high quality and design so you won’t be disappointed .
